June 20

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 71 near Industrial Parkway in Jackson. As a result, the driver was issued a citation for speed — 62 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone.

A deputy issued two “I Got Caught” tickets good for free ice cream cones to youngsters wearing their helmets while riding their bicycles.

A deputy assisted a motorist with vehicle issues on Industrial Parkway in Jackson. Palma Towing assisted at the scene.

Deputies assisted the Lakefield Police Department with a disturbance.

Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Loon Lake county parks.

 

June 21

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on County Road 4 near Petersburg. As a result, the driver was issued a citation for speed — 74 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone.

A deputy assisted a motorist with a stalled vehicle in the driving lane of Highway 71 in Jackson. Warmka Towing assisted at the scene.

A deputy issued an “I Got Caught” ticket goof for a free ice cream cone to a child wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle.

Deputies assisted the Minnesota State Patrol with a two-vehicle rear-end accident on I-90 near Alpha. The Jackson Ambulance also assisted at the scene as a precautionary measure.

A deputy responded to a complaint of some young kids riding a go-cart on the street in Jackson.

A deputy responded to a report of a rear window that was intentionally broken out of a vehicle in the Ashley Estates parking lot. Criminal damage-to-property charges are pending for a 20-year-old male from Jackson.

 

June 22

A deputy responded to a vehicle that was scratched in the parking lot at the Riverbluff Townhomes in Jackson.

A deputy assisted a semi with mechanical issues on Industrial Parkway in Jackson.

 

June 23

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Springfield Parkway in Jackson. As a result, the driver was issued a citation for speed — 50 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone.

A deputy checked on a disabled/unoccupied vehicle in Delafield Township.

A deputy assisted a motorist on I-90 near the Heron Lake exit with a flat tire.

A deputy gave a homeless 20-year-old male a ride from the Nobles County line to Cottonwood County at his request.

 

June 24

A deputy and the Jackson Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire near the intersection of County Road 34 and County Road 17. A 2015 Chevrolet 2500 was totally engulfed when crews arrived on scene. The vehicle was a total loss. The driver was not injured.

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on County Road 9 about a mile south of Heron Lake. A Case International Farmall 95 pulling a drill was travelling northbound on County Road 9 and was followed by a 2015 Dodge Journey. The tractor signaled a left turn. As it began to make the left turn into a driveway, the Dodge passed the tractor and collided with the tractor. Both the tractor and the Dodge sustained severe damage. The Heron Lake Ambulance transported the driver of the Dodge to an area hospital with a possible injury.

A deputy responded to a report of a barricade near the intersection of County Road 29 and County Road 30 at the Kimball Corner moved off to the side of the roadway. The barricade is part of the County Road 30 road construction project and was positioned in the middle of the roadway to block traffic from driving into the construction area. Driving over, through or around any barricade, fence or obstruction erected for the purpose of preventing traffic from passing over a portion of a highway closed to public travel or removing, defacing or damaging any such barricade, fence or obstruction is a misdemeanor, with a fine up to $1,000.

 

June 25

A deputy issued an underage consumption citation to an 18-year-old male from Jackson who was at the Boot Lake boat landing.

Deputies had a booth at the Blue Heron Days in the Heron Lake City Park.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 60 near Heron Lake. As a result, the driver was issued a citation for speed — 85 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone.

The sheriff’s department had two vehicles in the Blue Heron Days parade. One squad led the parade. The sheriff’s reserve also drove a squad later in the lineup.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop in Jackson. After investigating, a 39-year-old male from Jacksonville, Fla., was arrested for probable-cause DUI.

 

June 26

Dispatch received a complaint of fireworks in the Sherwood Acres area of Okabena.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on I-90 near the Heron Lake exit. As a result, the driver was issued a citation for speed — 93 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone.

A deputy received a phone call for what was determined to be a civil issue over repairs made on a vehicle by a private person.

The Jackson Fire Department responded to a grass fire in the road ditch northeast of Jackson near the intersection of 570th Avenue and 820th Street. Crews were on scene for about a half-hour.
