JCC boys, girls both finish third in LuverneFree Access

The Jackson County Central boys’ and girls’ track and field teams both finished third in the team’s first outdoor meet of the season Monday in Luverne.

For the boys, Andrew Boyum (3,200-meter run) and Caleb Vancura (shot put) were winners, while the JCC girls got a trio of wins from Peyton Hanson and two from Elsa Landherr.

Caleb Vancura added a runner-up finish in the discus and Evan Paplow placed second in the 1,600 and third in the 3,200.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Dezmynd Tupper, Boyum, Kie Anderson and EJ Peterson also finished second and Quinn Landherr finished third in the 400-meter dash and pole vault.

Ridge VanWesten finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles and Evan Insichienmay was fourth in high jump. Also finishing fourth were the 4×4 (Insichienmay, Braeden Arduser, Landherr and VanWesten), 4×2 (Alex Koster, Arduser, Landherr and Insichienmay) and 4×1 (Reese Adkins, Paul Troe, Noah Thompson and Rory Schley) relay teams. Koster also placed fifth in the 200.

Hanson won the 300-meter hurdles and pole vault and Elsa Landherr won the 400 for the JCC girls. The two also made up half of the winning 4×4 relay team and were joined by Brylee Anderson and Erica Hanson.

Payten Benda finished third in the 100-meter hurdles and Peyton Hanson was third in the race. Landherr finished third in triple jump and Elese Paplow was third in the 1,600.

The 4×8 (Olivia Anderson, Paplow, Erica Hanson and Taylor Schultz), 4×2 (Hannah Carson, Kendra Haar, Maci Farmer and Landherr) and 4×1 (Daysia Tomlin, Haar, Benda and Carson) relay teams all placed third.

Emma Haren (400), Erica Hanson (pole vault) and Farmer (triple jump) all finished fourth and Carson (100) and Romi Rosenbrook (pole vault) finished fifth.

The Huskies are scheduled to be back on the track Thursday in Mt. Lake.
