Gymnasts finish third at section meetFree Access

The Jackson County Central gymnastics team finished third at the Section 3A meet Saturday in Pipestone, finishing with a score of 131.875.

Worthington ran away with the team title, scoring 143.935. Luverne scored 134.275 to finish third, with JCC, Redwood Valley (130.875) and Pipestone (129.6) rounding out the top five.

Payten Benda came close to qualifying for state, finishing sixth on floor exercise (9.025) to miss advancing by one spot. She also finished eighth on balance beam (8.7), 11th on vault (8.625) and scored 7.675 on bars. Benda’s all-around score of 34.025 put her in 10th place.

Bailey Finck had JCC’s top score on bars (7.725) and finished 12th in all-around (33.4). Romi Rosenbrook finished 14th in all-around (32.2).
