Boys’ hockey team is seeded fifthFree Access

The Windom Area boys’ hockey team is seeded fifth in the Section 3A tournament and opens the postseason at fourth-seeded Marshall Thursday at 7 p.m.

The winner advances to the section semifinals, likely against top-seeded No. 1 New Ulm. New Ulm faces the winner of No. 8 Fairmont and No. 9 Minnesota River in the quarterfinals.

Windom Area and Marshall split a pair of regular-season games this season. The Eagles (11-13-1) won 5-3 on Dec. 7, 2021, before the Tigers (14-11) won 3-2 on Jan. 27.

In the other quarterfinal matchups, No. 3 Luverne hosts No. 6 Worthington and No. 2 Mankato East/Loyola faces the winner between No. 7 Mankato West and No. 10 Redwood Valley.

The section semifinals are Feb. 26 at the high seed and the finals are March 2 in Mankato.

The Eagles have four Jackson County Central players on their roster: Dan Stubbe, Brad Gentry, Chase Hamlett and Luke Anderson.
