'Getting Ready for Fall with Your Landscaping' presented by Gail Dunker. This program will provide ideas on how to landscape a yard during autumn. Dunker will discuss whether to put away or transition containers into the next season. She will show trimming and covering techniques for shrubs and roses. Attendees will also learn how to protect trees from rabbits and deer. The public is welcome to attend and bring a sack lunch. The library will provide coffee and tea.


Jackson Firefighters Dance October, 5 / 9:00 PM Community
The 120th Annual Jackson Firefighters Dance will be at the Jackson National Guard Armory from 9pm - 1am. Dancing, Raffles, Beverages and Food provided. Tickets are $10 at the door. 'The Ultimate Road Trip - North to Alaska' presented by Steve and Amy DeKok. More than 300,000 people drive the Alaska Highway every year, and it is on the top to-do list of many Americans. The beauty of the Canadian/Alaskan Highway is phenomenal. Alaskan inland has beauty that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. Steve and Amy will tell some memorable stories about driving from Minnesota to Alaska, fishing, bears and delicious halibut tacos. The public is welcome to attend and bring a sack lunch. The library will provide coffee and tea.

The Jackson Fire Department and Ambulance Service, along with the Jackson Lions Club, will be hosting a Pancake Feed at the Jackson Fire Hall. Proceeds will be used for equipment, training, fireman's relief, and for the benefit of the members of the Jackson Fire Department.

'Germany and Denmark, Summer of 2013' presented by Connie Myers. Connie and husband John celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary by touring her ancestral homeland of Denmark. They continued on their trip to the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany, where they took part in John's inauguration as governor of Lions Distric 5M3 at a ceremony amongst more than 20,000 fellow Lions. Connie will share highlights of their sightseeing and the convention. The public is welcome to attend and bring a sack lunch. The library will provide coffee and tea.

The Good Samaritan Society's Fall Bazaar will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. They will be serving Barbeques, chips, baked beans and homemade pies. They will also be having a bake sale. Proceeds will go toward meeting our financial goal for our Resident Beauty Shop as well as purchasing items for our Resident Shopping Cart.

In response to suggestions and requests for fun and safe Halloween entertainment for the high school age youth, BARC and Elite Sound will be hosting a High School Halloween Dance Party. The dance will be held in the BARC Gymnasium at 1012 5th Ave, Windom, MN. Students are encouraged to wear costumes as there will be contests and prizes awarded.
