Fishing Report - Aug. 14
By (August 14, 2009)
The only word on successful fishing has been from Eagle Lake near Bingham Lake, according to Bill's Bait in Jackson. There some perch have been caught, some real nice and some only 8 to 9 inches.

At Big Spirit Lake, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources rates fishing:

White Bass - Fair: use jerk baits, top-water lures, or white jigs in the evenings while looking for surface feeding fish.

Bluegill - Good: Use small jigging lures tipped with wigglers along weed beds in Angler's Bay.

Smallmouth Bass - Good: Use top water lures or jerk baits while looking for surface feeding activity along rock bars and weed lines.

Largemouth Bass - Good: Fish along boat docks with soft plastics or the weed lines with jigs.

Yellow Perch - Good: Use jigging lures tipped with a piece of worm or wigglers while anchored on the deep flats on the main lake or along weed beds.

Walleye - Fair: Drift fish along weed beds using worms or leeches or troll the deep flats on the main lake with crankbaits.
