Local drug ring busted
Six current or former residents of Jackson County are in jail on drug charges following a string of arrests in Jackson and Lakefield this week.
The arrests Tuesday and Wednesday are the result of a six-month investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Arrested in the city of Jackson on Tuesday were Hong David Phaengkhouane, 19, of Willmar, and Tyler Joe Ayers, 19, of Willmar, for the delivery of cocaine. An arrest warrant had been issued for Phaengkhouane for a controlled substance crime in the first degree and for Ayers for a controlled substance crime in the third degree.
Also arrested on warrants Tuesday in Jackson were Michael Steven Sibou, 19, of Jackson, for a controlled substance crime in the first degree, and Trent Bryan DeRuyter, 19, of Worthington, for a controlled substance crime in the fifth degree.
Arrested in the city of Lakefield on a warrant Tuesday was Zachary Allen Hinrichs, 19, of Lakefield, for a controlled substance crime in the third degree
On Wednesday, authorities in Jackson arrested Gregory James Carlson, 19, of Lakefield (currently residing in Willmar), on a warrant for a controlled substance crime in the third degree.
An official release from Jackson County Sheriff Roger Hawkinson said all individuals arrested are or have been residents of Jackson County at one time.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office was assisted in the investigation by the Cooperative Enforcement Effort VI Drug Task Force based in Willmar. Assisting in the arrests were the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
All those arrested are being held in the Jackson County Jail pending their first court appearance.
