The first doses of the injectable H1N1 flu vaccine were administered Thursday to local first responders and health care personnel after Cottonwood-Jackson Community Health Service received a shipment of 300 doses Wednesday. Public health administrator Pat Stewart said the share of the vaccine was about 160 to Cottonwood County and 140 to Jackson County.
Another 150 nasal spray vaccines for the H1N1 flu were provided to C-JCHS for both counties as well, and Stewart said doses for Sanford Jackson Medical Center facilities' personnel were distributed last Thursday, Oct. 22.
If doses remain after Thursday's limited-recipient clinic in the Jackson County Resource Center gymnasium, the vaccine would likely be made available to pregnant women on Friday, Stewart said, probably at a local school.
